Grants that assist with Vet Care

Receiving an astronomical vet bill is never a welcome surprise, but unfortunately, these pop-up expenses are a part of pet ownership. We’re all human, and sometimes the funds aren’t there, which can leave you scrambling.

Caring for our fur kids can cost an arm and a leg (and sometimes a tail), but thankfully, there are kind people out there willing to lend a hand if you’re in a bind.

Below, we’ll share some organizations that may help pay vet bills or offer more affordable care.

South Wilmington Street Center

In 2001, the County opened a newly renovated emergency and transitional shelter for homeless men that changed the way we offer services to the homeless population. The shelter provides some short-term emergency dorms with overnight shelter only, while other dorms offer longer-term shelter to men who engage in services. Those services range from case management, budgeting and credit counseling, mental health/substance abuse treatment and referrals to other programs. The goal is to provide safe shelter while the men develop realistic plans for moving out of the shelter, and into employment and housing of their own. Open 24/7, 365 days a year. 919-857-9428

Friends OF Wake Animals

FWCAC has been in the vanguard for helping pets and their people here in Wake County since the start of quarantine.  With many residents suddenly losing their hours/jobs, our charity wanted to ensure that no one had to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their animals.  FWCAC has been providing free pet food and essentials since March 2020 through our No Empty Bowl Project.
We used Massage Luxe Raleigh as our makeshift "command center” for curbside pickup events March through May of 2020.  Volunteers even provided some porch deliveries. After Massage Luxe re-opened in phase II, FWCAC recognized an ongoing community need. Shifting our resources, we are now partnering with established local charitable organizations.
